Notes | Stephen Summerson in Midland Railway Locomotives Vol 2 (which has provided virtually all the information on this tender) says it was probably built with a 1600 gallon tank which was later replaced with a 2000 gallon tank. He gives the chassis build date as 1867. The LMS record card gives a build date of 1871 The MR did not number their tenders, but from 1874 a plate with the number of the locomotive it was attached to was fitted to the rear of the tank. |
