Notes | Purchased from Woodham Bros, Barry scrapyard. Chassis restored and a new tank fitted in the late 1980s it then ran with SR N class 2-6-0 no. 31874. Stored out of use for a long time. Assessed for restoration in 2016, the frames were found to be in poor condition and a new set of frame sides were cut to replace the original set. The intention was to build new frames using the original hornguides and spring hangers and refit the existing tank. Subsequently it was decided to reuse the tank on a Maunsell Eastleigh chassis that had previously been a snowplough (listed in the Tender Register as Unknown Maunsell 3500 gallon hybrid). At present the dismantled remains of the original frames and the new frame sides still reside at Herston Works. |
