Notes | After preservation in 1951 loco 4003 was restored with Churchward 3500 gallon tender no.1892. This had a Churchward frame with L shaped spring hangers. Further restoration was carried out in 1962 prior to the locomotive being placed in Swindon Museum. At the end of the restoration the tender that was coupled to 4003 had original style spring hangers and carried the numberplate 1726. It is not known
if this is no. 1892 modified and renumbered, the original tender no. 1726 or another unknown tender that has been numbered 1726. Tank has not been replaced since preservation |
